Libraries and makerspaces can help you print files without buying a machine. Ask whether you submit a file or book a supervised session, whether training is required, and how long a job may run.
Confirm materials before buying anything. Many libraries supply filament and prohibit bringing your own; PLA-only machines cannot make a flexible TPU casing. Ask about PETG/TPU, fees per gram, queue times and collection.

CLUB COST CALCULATOR
playunderwaterhockey recommends the base Bambu Lab P1S . The base model is more than enough for gloves, sticks, and mouthguards.
Sticks: Print flat in the orientation recommended by the model. Use the maximum practical wall/perimeter count, then 100% infill when the design and final weight allow.
Goals: The example makes two weighted 2 m goals with eight sections each. At $13/kg, PETG is about $78 per goal, wheel weights add about $80, and printing takes about 4.5 days each. Four sections make 1 m; eight make 2 m; twelve make 3 m.
Mouthguards: Roughly 16–18 can fit on one plate. That reduces hands-on setup, but a failed plate can scrap the whole batch.
The goal comparison uses $2,500 for a pair—the midpoint of a typical $2,000–$3,000 metal-goal purchase. The weighted design aims for an overall density close to aluminum, while PETG avoids a fully metal goal that some pools may not permit. The calculator includes $10 in tire weights per section and a one-time $25 for goal magnets and glue when goals are selected. For whole-pack purchasing costs, use the weighted goal’s price calculator. The glove estimate adds $2.50 each for the base glove, glue, and small consumables. Sales tax defaults to a rough 8% allowance on both supplier purchases and DIY purchases, including the printer. Adjust it for your location. Shipping, electricity, labor, extra assembly supplies, and failed prints are excluded.
