Snorkel Lock - Universal Underwater Hockey Headgear Earcup

Here's a bit of an experimental model I made! It's an attempt to create a more universal headgear mount that keeps your snorkel securely in place rather than letting it slide around.

I'm also trying to reduce the side profile of the snorkel so it creates less drag when you're swimming as fast as possible.

I haven't actually played with this yet, but it feels relatively solid so far.

This print has everything you need except zip ties. It would be best to get some legit ones, but if you don't have any, here is a link to a good 3d print file that I used: Ultralock Zip Ties (https://makerworld.com/en/models/557344-ultralock-zip-ties-3d-print-optimized#profileId-478035)

Inspiration

This design was inspired by the pretty refined snorkels made by the smart people over at Bluefin UWH (https://bluefinuwh.com/).

They've designed a snorkel that conforms incredibly well to the side of your face, and it looks super sleek.

I thought I'd take some inspiration from their snorkel retention system and try to make something more universal that works with the snorkels people already own.

Snorkel Compatibility

I designed this around my own headgear setup and the Canal 2 Snorkel (https://www.canamuwhgear.com/aqa-canal-2-snorkel-p/smg-aqacanal.htm), which I love.

The channel where the snorkel sits has a 26 mm diameter, just 1 mm larger than the Canal 2's approximately 25 mm diameter.

I also designed the mount around the specific angle that my snorkel sits against my headgear.

Hopefully it'll work with a bunch of other snorkels too, but I haven't tested that.

Headgear Compatibility

The mounting holes are designed to match the Q Suits headgear I purchased in the summer of 2026.

It fits their existing back plate quite well, and I'd recommend using one of their back plates if you have one available.

That said, I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to buy an entirely new set of headgear just to use this piece. But I guess that's up to you!

3D-Printed Clip

I've also included a matching clip designed to work with this earcup.

Since it's 3D-printed, I'm a little concerned about the layer lines making it prone to snapping, especially if you're not careful when installing it

The clip seems solid, but is a single use thing as it disintegrates when you try to disassemble it.

Optional Webbing Slot

One other little feature I added is a slot at the bottom for attaching your own headgear straps.

I really don't like the little straps that you have to tie together, so I make my own using 1-inch webbing.

I run the webbing through the side of my headgear, across to the headgear on the opposite side of my face, and then friction-wrap it back onto itself.

It creates a pretty solid connection, and I've found that it holds really well.

Of course, you don't have to use this feature. It's just something I wanted to include.

Feedback & Improvements

This is really just a first pass at making something that might be useful to other underwater hockey players.

I'm sure there are things that could be improved, especially when it comes to fitting different snorkels and headgear.

If you print one, let me know how it works! I'd love to hear what you like, what doesn't fit, or what modifications might make it better.

More Free Underwater Hockey Files

I'm also building a library of free 3D-printable underwater hockey equipment, including sticks, goals, headgear accessories, and other designs from the community.

If you've designed something useful or know of a model that's missing, feel free to reach out. I'd love to include it and make these resources easier for everyone to find.
